🌞 Dreaming of Spanish Holidays? Let’s Plan the Next Adventure!

The sun is shining, and summer is calling! At Ole Spanish for Everyone, we know many of you are already planning your next family holiday—and what better destination than sunny Spain?

If your child has been attending our Spanish lessons, they’re probably familiar with the story of Chiclete and his boat-house, a tale inspired by the beloved 80s Spanish TV series Verano Azul. If you're lucky enough to visit Nerja on the Costa del Sol this summer, not only will you find some of the most beautiful beaches in Spain, but you’ll also be able to visit Chanquete’s Boat, the iconic set from the series. Head over to Verano Azul Park, and don’t forget to get your children singing “¡No nos moverán!” 🎶 Snap a photo and send it to your Ole Spanish teacher—they’ll love it!

But that’s not all—we asked our amazing teachers to share their must-visit spots in their home regions, and here’s what they recommend:

🏰 Zarala’s Tip – Vitoria, Basque Country

Zarala recommends the charming city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, especially the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, surrounded by the Medieval Quarter. Wander through untouched 15th-century streets and feel like you have traveled back in time. Up for a short adventure? Drive to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, the dramatic islet that served as a filming location for Game of Thrones. A real treat for history and fantasy lovers!

🖼️ Miri’s Tip – Madrid & El Escorial

Miri, from Madrid, naturally recommends Spain’s vibrant capital, full of incredible museums, parks, and history. But for something quieter, take a short trip to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a majestic site surrounded by mountains. Explore its medieval charm and sit on the same chair where King Felipe II once did! Don’t miss the royal library and discover why the entire building is shaped like a parrilla (grill)—a fascinating symbol with historical depth.

🌊 Noemi’s Tip – Valencia

Noemi kept it short and sweet—because Valencia speaks for itself! A true Mediterranean jewel, it’s beloved by tourists and locals alike. If you’re in the area, be sure to visit the futuristic Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias—a perfect blend of architecture, science, and art and the famous "Fallas".

💃 Luisi, Shaima and myself– Sevilla, Granada & Cordoba

If Sevilla or Córdoba are on your radar, we suggest visiting in spring or autumn to avoid the summer heat. Sevilla in April is a magical experience—immerse yourself in Semana Santa and La Feria de Abril.

As for Córdoba, May is the month to go! Discover the Patios Festival, where every hidden corner blooms with flowers, explore the beautiful Cruces de Mayo, and wrap up with the Feria de Córdoba.

And don’t forget Granada—a jewel you can enjoy all year round.

💬 In our next blog post, we’ll be traveling beyond Spain and diving into the wonders of Venezuela, Peru, and Argentina. Stay tuned and, as always:

All amazing, and there's so much more beauty in Spain. The vinyards of La Rioja, mountain towns like Cuenca and Ronda, cities like Barcelona, Salamanca, Zaragoza... Spain has so much to offer.
